A 19-year old man was killed in a drive-by shooting Friday night amid police brutality protests in Detroit, police reported.
Police said an unknown suspect in a gray Dodge Durango “pulled up to the location and fired shots into the crowd” around 11:30 p.m. before fleeing the scene.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from gunshot wounds.
Detroit Police Chief James Craig claimed that the “vast majority” of protesters were peaceful, although several patrol vehicles were damaged and a command officer had to be sent to the hospital after he was hit with a rock. No other injuries were reported.
Police are still looking for the suspect and the incident remains under investigation.
